Euroweb Romania signs a new contract with the telecommunication equipments provider ZTE Corporation
Bucharest, August 5th, 2008 – Euroweb Romania announces signing a new contract with the telecommunication equipments provider ZTE, after the one signed in 2005, when Euroweb bought from ZTE a complex SDH structure to update the national optical fiber network up to multiple of STM-16. The object of new collaboration is the purchase of a series of equipments necessary to upgrade the capacity of Euroweb’s national SDH network up to multiple of STM-64.
„In 2005 we started the collaboration with ZTE Corporation having as purpose the development of our network in 14 important Romanian cities”, says Laurentiu Stan, General Manager at Euroweb Romania S.A. „Today, Euroweb infrastructure covers more than 75% of the most important Romanian cities, and the fact that Memorex AG joined the Invitel International group, which we are also part of, offered us access to one of the bigger communication infrastructure in South-Eastern Europe. This year we have decided to upgrade the capacity of our SDH national network up to N x STM-64, creating in this way new competitive advantages in order to keep and consolidate the position of main Internet and data transmissions provider for the wholesale and business-to-business segments”.
The data transmission equipments provided by ZTE include the SDH/MSTP equipment (Multi Service transmissions platform), and also the de DWDM equipment, which is already present in more than 40 countries. In 2002, the SDH equipment produced by ZTE was launched in Europe, covering the national optical fiber network in Poland. In 2005, ZTE won the contract for providing the DWDM optical fiber for Cabletel national network, Bulgaria, and they also signed the contract with Euroweb, participating this way at the in the process of enlarging the optical fiber network in Romania. 2008 has already brought important contracts for ZTE on the European market, from which there are worth mentioning the national IPTV project in Belarus and the enlarging of the 3G network in Romania. All these accomplishments have positioned ZTE as international leader in providing data transmission equipments.
